Amara Mesnik

Filmmaker & Writer

I’m a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, writer, and artist continually seeking ways to meld science and creativity. A 2018 graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Film & Television (with a minor in Molecular & Cell Biology), I’ve written and directed numerous projects ranging from documentaries to narrative short films, as well as music videos and promotional content. I have also worked in a variety of environments, from MIT’s Robot Locomotion lab to the Documentary Unit at CNN, as well as freelancing as an artist, graphic designer, copywriter, and camera assistant.

I currently work as a video editor at BBC Studios in New York, where I edit promotional content for the Creative & Brand team with a strong focus on FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels. For my unaired contribution to the 2024 BBC US Election campaign, I won two GEMA awards (Global gold and North America bronze) in the Salon des Refuses category.

In my free time, I’m always writing, and am currently working on my first novel.
